Day 113, August 15th
Zero Day in Stehekin
The zero is magical. There’s a 5 hour trip to the bakery where I eat everything I can possibly fit in my stomach. Then there’s a game of monopoly where brainstorm shows his intellectual superiority over us mortals. Carrot and I take out kayaks on lake Chelan and view hieroglyphs on cliffs next to the lake. It’s a beautiful zero, my favorite trail town of the entire trip, hands down. We all go to a local art show at night with many of the young people who are working in the tiny town for the summer. Hikers mingled with bakery workers, lodge workers, and full time Stehekin’s. It’s an excellent night cap, and an excellent zero. Here’s some of the picture highlights.
